This collection of three lanterns, crafted from cotton fabric, wire, and light, represents bedrooms from distinct phases of my life: childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. These illuminated forms explore the soul’s presence in absence, reflecting how personal belongings and spatial arrangements create a negative image of identity. The works interrogate the privilege of having one’s own space and the increasing inaccessibility of this human right. They delve into the nuances of womanhood, examining how societal expectations shape self-expression, leading to cycles of loss and rediscovery. Through their vulnerable, layered forms, the lanterns reveal the complexity and resilience of the cis female experience in this current world.
