Raiden asks me to make him a record rack. I sense that his record collection is a lifelong project that will progressively multiply without ever losing its comrades. He shows me his collection in his room. I push aside the clothes, boxes and books to make my pathway on the floor, amused to reveal the colour of the carpet below. In startling contrast to his messy room, he tells me that his record collection, lined along the perimeter of his walls, is organised in alphabetical order. This rack, I was convinced, had to encourage this positive behaviour by accounting for, seamlessly, his growing collection and easing the labour off of the task of alphabetting records. My solution is “Raiden”, a storage rack that motivates human Raiden to take care of his records, both current and future. Raiden is helping Raiden to be better. Isn’t that nice?
