Shannon Chambers is a Sydney based artist who utilises painting as an extension of self, exploring the metaphysical ground between light and shadow and the ambiguous nature of reality.  Shannon’s practice draws inspiration from such artists as James Ensor, Ben Quilty, Miriam Cahn and Bob Thompson.  Genres such as science fiction, fantasy, anthology and horror have also shaped Shannon's artistic practice.  Shannon works predominantly with oil paint, and at the core of her practice — confronts themes of mortality, perception, memory, temporality and obscurity. Her works would be described as surrealist, existential and absurd, challenging the depths of mankind’s fear, the summit of his knowledge in an augmented dimension where reality and illusion coincide.
